Chapter 5

ch3-blog-1_01

When buying your first e-cig, there are lots of things you should consider. Like whether or not you should purchase it in store or maybe online and why. Or all the items or products you’ll need to get you going when looking into becoming a vaper.

When you purchase at your local vape shop:

  • In person conversations about products and safety of different products
  • Hands on experience
  • You get to taste the eLiquid before you buy it
  • If you need to return a product, you can take it right back to the store instead of having to mail it back

When you purchase online:

  • Products delivered right at your door
  • Better chance for getting lower prices
  • Online stores are open 24 hours
  • More selection for various products

Depending on what you’re interested in getting, the necessities can differ. If you’re buying a regulated mod, a lot of them have internal batteries. These that are internal batteries, usually come with a charger. If the batteries are external, you’ll need to purchase batteries as well as a charger for those batteries. Another item you’ll need is, juice! Without juice, you can’t vape! If you’re buying a tank, you’ll need to purchase extra coils. If you’re buying a rebuildable atomizer, you might want to learn how to build your own coils. You can learn by different ways; in a vape shop, YouTube videos, and I’ve also written a blog on basic building steps! So to make it short, you’ll need a mod, an atomizer, batteries (if not internal), charger, and eLiquid.

Let’s face it… nothing beats personalized service. Especially if it is going to be your very first vape gear purchase. Another huge pro when it comes to just going to your local vape shop is, you get the chance to test your juice before you buy it! I mean, who want to buy juice that you’ve never tried. Probably not many. Now, if you already know exactly what you’re looking for, online could be the best route. This is because you can shop around hassle free to search for the best price. It all just dwindles down to what you’re looking for (or if you even know what you’re looking for), convenience, and price!

4 Main Clearomizer Problems

4 Main Clearomizer Problems

As with everything else in this world, there comes a time when you’ll have a problem with your vaping device. There’s no need to panic because all problems can be fixed. You may not see all 4 main problems during your vaping experience, but you will see at least 1 of the main 4 at some point. The 4 main problems you may see are: 1. burnt taste, 2. lacking airflow, 3. vapor production lacking, and 4. you clearomizer isn’t working properly.

1. BURNT TASTE

Having a burnt taste while vaping is the most common type of problem you may face with your vaping device. This problem arises often and frequently, especially if you don’t change the coil on time or get a bad coil.

The burnt taste comes from a bad coil or a coil that has been used longer than it should have been. When the coil isn’t receiving the proper amount of e-juice, it’ll burn the wick instead of the e-juice. The burning wick is what causes your e-juice to have a burnt taste to it.

One way to get rid of the burnt taste is to change the coil. If this doesn’t work then your e-juice may be too thick. When changing the coil doesn’t work, you may want to try a thinner e-juice.

2. AIRFLOW IS LACKING

Sometimes when you put the clearomizer back on your vaping device you may experience a lack of airflow. A lack of airflow may feel like you have a blockage or that the air is being cut off. The easiest solution to lacking airflow is to loosen your clearomizer from the other part of your device. If this solution does not work your e-juice may have made sludge inside your clearomizer. To get rid of the sludge you’ll need to clean your clearomizer and other parts of your device where the e-juice travels. Cleaning your device will help restore the airflow if loosening the parts does not.

3. VAPOR PRODUCTION IS LACKING

There are a few reasons why your vaping device may be lacking vapor production. The first thing you would want to check is the airflow. If the airflow is not sufficient enough then you would lack vapor production. You will want to adjust the airflow valves to the right position to get the proper vapor production.

Another solution to fix a lacking vapor production is to change the coil. An overused or bad coil can hinder vapor production. An easy solution would be to change the coil.

The third reason for poor vapor production would be the voltage. Some devices can use more than one coil which have different voltage to them. Changing to a higher voltage coil can improve vapor production. If the vaping device you are using can only use one coil then it would be the battery causing the problem. If it’s the battery then make sure to fully charge the battery to fix the lacking vapor production.

4. CLEAROMIZER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY

There are 2 common reasons why your clearomizer isn’t working properly. Those  reasons are the coil and the coil not making proper connection with the bottom part of the device. The connection points not meeting properly is the main problem.

To fix the connection points you would need a flat head screwdriver. With the screwdriver you would maneuver the connector on the bottom part of the clearomizer down a tad. This would help to make the connections touch properly.

CONCLUSION

No matter if you’re a beginner or have been vaping for awhile, these clearomizer problems you may encounter. Whatever the problem is, you’ll be able to fix it and get your device working properly again.

Leaving Vapor Trails

Leaving Vapor Trails

Most who vape claim that it doesn’t have much of an odor, but, you really can’t trust your own senses after a few tokes because your nose will have gotten used to any smell by then. Quite a few non-vapers don’t notice a thing even when they walk into an enclosed area seconds after you exhale, then again, others will smell something and just not realize what it is.

If you’re in a position where the smell of vapor is a concern, a few simple precautions can help you avoid any problems. If you’ve a window, open it, and if you’ve a fan, turn it on. The smell of vaping may be less intense than smoking, but it’s still part of the atmosphere until it’s had a chance to disperse. Vapor odor has a lot to do with the ingredients of the e-liquid itself. Example: Propylene Glycol (PG) mixes leave a stronger smell than those using a Vegetable Glycerin (VG), so when being discrete is a must, be careful when choosing your supplies. If you enjoy the taste of fresh foods, try a berry flavor. The only thing anyone is going to smell then will be something fruity, and delicious.

Yes, vapor does leave a trail under certain circumstances but it generally disappears in moments so this isn’t really an issue for most vapers. We’ve all seen airplanes with streamers of cloud (known as contrails) following them, and though the reasons a vaporizer can leave a trail of its own follow the same logic, choose your location wisely, and it should never be a problem. Cold, clear air promotes vapor trails, and when humidity is high, they tend to hang around longer than you might think if there’s no breeze to disperse it.

When you get right down to it, vaping is obviously a better choice than smoking, and choosing not to vape because of worrying about leaving a scent, or vapor trail isn’t doing you any favors. Whether discretion is a must or not, adapting vaping habits to your surroundings is easier than you think, plus a much better option than polluting your body with smoking and trashy carcinogens.

There’s a Fill Line to Your Tank

Getting the perfect vape out of your set-up is easier than you think. One of the simplest and most important aspects of creating the perfect vape is by properly filling your tank. You will see that most tanks have milliliter lines printed on the side of it. This shows you how much e-liquid is in it at any given time.

It’s Important to Not Overfill Your Tank

This means you should not fill it with e-liquid past the highest milliliter marking. Making sure you don’t overfill your tank will ensure that you create perfect vapes and your set-up stays in good working order.

What Happens When You Overfill?

Overfilling can potentially cause damage to your battery through leakage. At the very least, overfilling can prevent your battery from connecting properly with the tank because e-liquid has leaked onto the firing pin of your battery. If there’s e-liquid in the connection, your set-up won’t produce a good vape.

Overfilling can cause leakage out of the top of the tank. E-liquid may seep out of where the mouthpiece connects to the tank and make a big mess. You may also end up getting it in your mouth.

Quick Fix

If you’ve overfilled, you can try to pour a little out of the top onto a paper towel. Just pour out enough to get the e-liquid down to the top millimeter line.

If e-liquid has dripped into the bottom part of your atomizer and is collecting on the firing pin of the battery, it’s critical to clean it out for optimal performance. This is easily solved, simply unscrew the battery from the atomizer and clean the bottom of your atomizer and the top of your battery. Twist the corner of a paper towel or a q-tip into the areas where there is leaked e-liquid and soak up the extra juice.

Making sure to keep your tank filled with the proper level of e-liquid will guarantee you’ll have an awesome vaping experience.

4 Tips For Increasing Your Throat Hit

The feeling you get at the back of your throat as well as in your lungs is what’s known as a throat hit. Hits that’re too strong can be painful and even damaging, while weak hits might feel like you didn’t really inhale anything. A satisfying throat hit is considered to be one of the biggest factors in a positive vaping experience for new and experienced vapers alike. Even though everyone has different preferences, there are some things that can be done to get the best throat hit for you.

Find The Right Flavor
One of the best places to start for anyone who is or wants to be a serious vaper, is the flavor of e-liquid being used as well as the quality. There’s a massive variety of different flavors to choose from, so finding the right one for you that can produce an adequate amount of vapor and has enough flavor will be critical in getting the best throat hit possible.

Finding The Right Nicotine Level
A factor that’s sometimes overlooked, is the nicotine levels in the e-liquids being used. While preferences will vary from person to person, especially seasoned vapers, the basic rule is that the higher the nicotine level of the liquid, the stronger the throat hits will be. There are also a few different additives that can be used to increase a throat hit, like grain alcohol or lactic acid, but they’re quite rare in comparison with nicotine. Some can also be irritating for the respiratory tract, so proper research should be done before trying them.

Taking Proper Puffs
An important factor when trying to get the optimal throat hit is how to take a proper puff. Most people who smoke cigarettes take quick puffs to get a good throat hit. This isn’t the case when vaping, as quick puffs will usually not be effective. For a better throat hit, you will need to take longer, slower puffs and not rush to exhale. This is usually somewhere between 3 and 6 seconds.

Propylene Glycol Liquid
There are two different bases used for e-liquids. The first is Propylene Glycol (PG), and the other is Vegetable Glycerin (VG). Propylene Glycol makes for thinner liquid, and produces a more distinguished throat hit with less vapor. Vegetable Glycerin makes thicker liquid that gives a softer throat hit with a lot of vapor.

In the end, the key to obtaining the best throat hit possible is gained through experimentation. Everyone has different preferences, which means there is no one right answer. Try as many flavors as possible, while also picking better quality liquids. Make sure to always keep your device clean and charged, so it works as efficiently as possible for better hits. Higher voltage devices can also provide a stronger throat hit with warmer liquid.
